WordPress Web Design

After leaving my tech job of 28 years, I realized the need to create and maintain a website to promote my services. I also realized that I had no idea how to go about doing that! One thing I knew was that I wanted to create the site myself and personally maintain control of it. Years ago I used Microsoft FrontPage to create websites and then I’d use custom HTML and JavaScript to enhance them. I also worked with Google and AOL’s web creation tools but those days are long gone. A little research showed that these days WordPress web design is one of the most prevalent web site creation tools so I decided to learn WordPress. With WordPress, fantastic looking sites may be created quickly and there’s no shortage of great looking themes targeted to your specific business or area of interest.

It’s not just me — many brands have chosen WordPress web design. Some of the more recognizable are:  CNN, Fortune, USA Today, UPS, Best Buy, Xerox, and Facebook. Click here for a detailed list.

Having a visually attractive and functional website is not only a great asset, it’s also a great equalizer! You don’t need to be Google, Amazon or Facebook to have an awesome website design. When potential customers visit your WordPress site, they will be drawn in by its visual appeal as well as its ability to tell your story in a captivating way.  You don’t need to be a mega corporation to present that story. Elements such as photo galleries, embedded video, embedded calendars, testimonials and timelines all work together to enhance functionality and tell the world who you are.

Lately I’ve come across several websites designed a few years back that were impeccably written and told a great story. The only problem was that much of their information was often buried deep within a nested menu structure. A potential consumer would need to dig deep into the website to extract this information. Realistically, in today’s fast-paced society, how much time do you think that consumer will spend navigating a complex menu structure? Chances are, they’ll either give up or get frustrated trying to find the information they want. My goal is to tell your story in a visually appealing way that brings forward pertinent information that may currently be stranded within secondary pages of your website.
